Amethyst is a purple variety of Quartz. The color of Amethyst can range from bluish purple to purple to reddish purple, with light to dark tone. Amethyst has been valued for its beauty and the ability to soothe the mind and emotions throughout the years.

The name Amethyst derives from the Greek word "amethystos", meaning not intoxicated, traditionally used by Greeks and Romans as a way to keep themselves sober.
